Ashurst advises the Department of Transport and Main Roads on the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program

Global law firm Ashurst has acted for the Department of Transport and Main Roads as legal advisor and transaction advisor for the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP), the largest rail investment in Queensland's history.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads contracted Downer EDI Rail Pty Ltd to design and construct a rollingstock manufacturing facility in Torbanlea, locally manufacture 65 trains, and deliver a maintenance and stabling facility at Ormeau.

The trains will be maintained by Downer EDI Rail and operated by Queensland Rail. It will support the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and be the most accessible trains ever providing services in the State.
