Ashurst wins Most Effective Pro Bono Partnership Award at LawWorks Pro Bono Awards 2023

Global law firm Ashurst has been recognised at the LawWorks Pro Bono Awards 2023 for its part in the Green Tech Legal Collaborative (GLTC), which won the Most Effective Pro Bono Partnership Award for 2023.

Managed by Bloomberg, the GTLC operates a pro bono legal incubator for green tech start-ups from Imperial College's Enterprise Lab. Volunteers from Ashurst and other law firms provide legal advice and support to incubated businesses as they develop their business from concept to commercial reality. This year, 18 start-ups are participating in the programme.

Anna Burn, who manages the project for Ashurst, said: "We are thrilled that the GTLC has been recognised by LawWorks as the Most Effective Pro Bono Partnership for 2023. Without pro bono support at their founding stage, these climate-positive enterprises would not have the means to develop into self-sufficient enterprises. Ashurst is committed to pro bono work that provides innovative legal solutions to the present and future obstacles we face in our local communities and across the world, and this is exemplified in the work carried out by our volunteers through the GTLC."

The win is Ashurst's second in a row, as the firm was also awarded Most Effective Pro Bono Partnership in 2022 for its support of the Afghan Pro Bono Initiative, a collaboration with Refugee Legal Support, Safe Passage International, and thirteen other global law firms.

The LawWorks Pro Bono Awards recognise the pro bono commitment of LawWorks members, their charity and corporate partners, and the work of independent clinics in the LawWorks clinics network.
